Traditional weight loss diets focus mainly on reducing calories but calorie controlled diets don't work. Statistics show that over 95% of dieters do not succeed in keeping their weight off that they've lost over the course of a diet, but rather, many of them result in gaining a lot more weight than they had before.
Why is this so? Your body requires calories, it requires energy, in order to function properly and burn fat. If your body is not getting the necessary amount of calories, it will shut down and go into starvation mode. This means your metabolic rate slows down in an attempt to conserve energy and minimise the expenditure of more calories than required. Instead or burning calories, your body will work extra hard to store them to ensure there are enough available to keep the body functions work effectively.
Eventually, energy levels will become very low due to insufficient calories to provide you with enough fuel for movement. Strongest cravings for all the wrong types of foods will be experienced. High sugar and high fat foods will be on your mind constantly as your body attempts to drive you in to replenishing its calorie stores. You'll be forced into a battle of willpower, one which is very hard to win because you're attempting to overthrow you body's own internal survival mechanisms.

Surgical procedures that are done commonly today for losing weight are the mesotherapy and liposuction. These body sculpting surgeries can result in fast weight loss and can also sculpt the body the way one wants it to be shaped. These surgical procedures are the common drastic measures that celebrities resort to when they want to look good and could cost tons of money to do them.
Intentional drastic weight loss could have adverse effects. If a person is restricting their calories to such an extent that they experience rapid weight loss they are also malnourishing their body.
